5/2012 - Jill Rethman, RDH, BA, Dimensions Editorial Director, will travel to the EuroPerio Meeting in Vienna, Austria in June. She is attending the meeting on behalf of The Sunstar Foundation for Oral Health and will participate in the award ceremony for the winners of The Sunstar World Perio Research Awards.

5/2012 - Belmont Publications, Inc.'s flagship publication, Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, exhibited at the California Dental Hygienists' Association Annual Meeting on May 4, 2012, in Anaheim, Calif. The conference attracted nearly 600 dental hygienists and was held during the 4-day California Dental Association meeting.

The day-long event included a continuing education speaker, an exhibit hall, and a student table clinic session. The speaker, Ann Esenhaur Spolarich, RDH, PhD–a Dimensions' Editorial Advisory Board member– presented two courses. The first discussed dental stem cells while the second focused on prescription drugs and herbal therapies.

During the exhibition Editorial Director Jill Rethman, RDH, BA, Executive Editor Kristen Pratt Machado, and Special Projects Manager Danielle Bayer were able to speak with long-time Dimensions readers, as well as introduce the journal to first year dental hygiene students. This was Dimensions' ninth year exhibiting at the meeting.

5/2012 - Jill Rethman, RDH, BA, Dimensions Editorial Director and President of the Hawaii Dental Hygienists' Association, is happy to announce the passage of Senate Bill 2013. This bill, now signed into law by Governor Neil Abercrombie, mandates that a dental hygiene license be prominently displayed in the workplace. The law enables consumers to know that their dental hygiene care is being provided by a licensed dental hygiene professional.

4/2012 - Dimensions of Dental Hygiene and Mentor Honored for Editorial Excellence

In late April, two of Belmont Publications' titles, Dimensions of Dental Hygiene and Mentor, earned Maggies from the Western Publishing Association (WPA) for editorial excellence. The Maggie Awards, an annual event held by the WPA, honors the best print and electronic publications in terms of editorial quality and design. In the publishing industry's version of the Oscars, a panel of independent judges selected Mentor's February 2011 issue as best trade publication in the Non-paid, Circulation Under 50,000 category, while Dimensions was honored in the Best Supplement, Trade and Consumer category for Dimensions Digest: Dental Biofilms in the Oral Cavity. Sponsored by Sunstar Americas Inc, the award-winning 32-page digest was published with the January 2011 issue. While we, at Belmont Publications, always appreciate recognition received from our readers and industry partners, we are equally flattered to have our efforts recognized by our colleagues in the publishing world.
